Content Management leaves the responsibility for most maintenance in the hands of the site owner - not the web professional.  There are many different types and many different uses for CMS. Some of the better known open source programs are Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress.

Site Management - Any entire site can be converted to this such as panamaeagle.com or akfitto.com or a part of a site for those pages you need to change often such as marvesta.com and sidmalkin.com . You can't see the cms at work but they save the owners time and money!

Article Management - used for posting of articles by the owner or allowed guests/registered users.  See these sites for examples: avoc.info.

News Management - for simple posting of short news items - nobacco.org

Clip Art or Photo Management - clip art catalogs, artist portfolios and even a teacher appreciation site!  oconeeteachers.com, delia's portfolio, plattbrooks.com.
