The Interviewer
The most important thing anyone needs to know about interviewers is this—they are just like you and me, ordinary people. They may have started in the same job you are applying for and worked their way up. They probably have had no training or instruction in interviewing and they might not even know what kind of person would be the right one for that job. One of the key measuring sticks that interviewers use unconsciously is "Does this person look like they will fit in here?" Unfortunately, this becomes more important than it should, but remember the interviewer may not even be aware of this hidden agenda. Since that person on the other side of the desk may not know how to interview, it is of utmost importance that the interviewee be well-prepared, ready and able to deliver the information that the interviewer should be asking.
